Meet Lauren

Seacoast Pathways, a program of Granite Pathways, is a mental health recovery peer community in Portsmouth, New Hampshire.

Many
of our members originally came to Seacoast Pathways Clubhouse out of
a desire to find more purpose or structure in their lives, make
friends, find employment and just have a busier life. Indeed, when
isolating with a mental health challenge a person's quality of life
suffers. That's why we have the Clubhouse in Portsmouth.

Upon
entering our Clubhouse you might first encounter a member named
Lauren Hoepp. She has been with us about 4 years and, like any other
member, she has had her ups and downs but ALWAYS manages to pop back
up! Why? She is motivated. She approaches her recovery with resolve
and takes action. The word is “pro-active!” The clubhouse has
been just one element of recovery for her, and she has done a great
deal for our clubhouse as well. The two go hand in hand with
recovery!

Lauren
has an impressive resume for tackling depression. Being a clubhouse
member is a part but she has initiated many other activities that
keep her challenged. They range from helping non-profits like Penguin
Plunge for Special Olympics to just little wellness activities like
her new fish tank.

She
is actively engaged with a life coach, taking on nutritional and
exercise challenges. Her involvement with Special Olympics has been
truly heroic not only as a supporter but a participating athlete.

She
also loves photography and turned her love for seacoast images into a
small business called Lauren's Photos 4 Mental Illness. She sometimes
changes that title to help a new cause such as Special Olympics. She
has raised nearly $1,000 for Seacoast Pathways Clubhouse with that
and a giant bake sale. Does the word Dynamo come to mind? She is an
“engine” of finding never ending, new ways to feel good about
herself. Cooking, decluttering, dressing up for fun in crazy outfits.

She
is also a Best Buddy with Miss New Hampshire 2020 Alyssa Fernandes, a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization dedicated
to establishing a global volunteer movement that creates
opportunities for one-to-one friendships, integrated employment,
leadership development, and inclusive living for people with
intellectual and developmental disabilities.

Lauren
is a positive example for anyone with a mental health challenge. She
is proof positive that the change so needed and desired for recovery
is possible. She would love to meet new members and share some of her
Zen!
